Veteran tennis publicist, publisher and sports marketing executive brings more than three decades of experience in tennis communications, media relations, publishing and global sports promotion to PTR.
WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. – The Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), the world’s leading organization for tennis and racquet sports coach education and certification, has named Randy Walker as its Global Brand and Communications Advisor.
Walker, an experienced and recognizable communications and promotional professional in the tennis industry, brings more than three decades of experience in sports marketing, public relations, media relations, publishing, brand development and international tennis promotion to the organization.
In his role, Walker will advise PTR on its global brand positioning, communications strategy, media relations, storytelling, digital media initiatives and promotional outreach. He will work to strengthen PTR’s visibility and influence throughout the international tennis community while helping communicate the organization’s mission, educational programs, professional development opportunities and growing worldwide impact. Walker will take over much of the responsibility of former PTR Director of Marketing Caitlyn Fries, who left the organization to take another position in Michigan.
“Randy brings an extraordinary combination of tennis industry knowledge, communications experience, media relationships and promotional creativity,” said Lynne Rolley, CEO of the PTR. “His understanding of the tennis landscape, combined with his ability to tell compelling stories and build visibility for organizations and events, will be a tremendous asset as PTR continues to expand its global reach.”
Walker has spent much of his professional career at the intersection of tennis, media and communications. After graduating from the University of Georgia, he began his career with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) in 1992, working in communications and marketing, and went on to serve in prominent media relations roles for some of the sport’s most significant events and competitions. From 1997 through 2005, he served as press officer for the U.S. Davis Cup and Olympic tennis teams, working with some of the greatest players in American tennis history. His responsibilities also included communications work surrounding the U.S. Open, Fed Cup (now Billie Jean King Cup) and three Olympic Games. His international tennis experience includes working with players, coaches, journalists, tournament directors and governing bodies across the professional game, helping generate media exposure and tell the stories that connect tennis with fans around the world.
Walker is the managing partner of New Chapter Media, a sports publishing, marketing and communications company, and serves as editor for WorldTennisMagazine.com. Since 2015, he has also served as the tournament director for the Mardy Fish Children’s Foundation Tennis Championships USTA Pro Circuit men’s professional tennis tournament in Vero Beach, Florida. He will continue to serve in these roles in addition to his commitment to the PTR.
