NEW YORK, August 4, 2026 – The USTA announced that the US Open and Marvel are continuing their groundbreaking collaboration for a third consecutive year with a new and original Spider-Man comic book that champions the theme of the 2026 US Open, “Celebrating Our New York Story.” More than 40,000 print copies of the comic book will be given out to fans for free throughout US Open Fan Week at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, with a limited-edition run of rare, collectible covers featuring one of New York City’s five boroughs given out in a surprise bag to the first 1,000 fans each day August 24-28.
The unique comic follows Spider-Man as he chases and battles supervillain Scorpion across all five boroughs en route to the US Open, visiting iconic landmarks and encountering quintessential New York experiences along the way. All 40,000-plus print copies of the book will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis for free during US Open Fan Week to those fans who scan their Fan Access Pass at the giveaway tent inside the main entrance.
Rare collectible covers featuring Spider-Man in one of the five boroughs – the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island – are limited to 1,000 copies each and will be given away at random in a blind bag to the first 1,000 fans on-site who pick up their comic book Monday, August 24, through Friday, August 28.
“This is such a creative and exciting concept that brings Spider-Man to the US Open and also amplifies the celebration of our theme and New York City, with six unique covers featuring landmarks of all five boroughs,” said Nicole Kankam, Managing Director, Pro Tennis Marketing and Entertainment, USTA. “We’re thrilled to work with Marvel for a third consecutive year – a collaboration that continues to add to our fan experience during US Open Fan Week and undoubtedly helps to grow the game of tennis among new audiences.”
“Peter Parker is the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and while he is from Queens, his neighborhood is the whole of New York City,” said Nick Lowe, VP and Executive Editor for Marvel’s Spider-Man Comic Books. “We at Marvel are super excited to honor the five boroughs with our webbed-wonder, highlighting some of each borough’s stellar landmarks in the greatest city in the world, including the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center, which is the heartbeat of Queens for the next few weeks and is also one of my kids’ favorite field trip spots!”
