TYPTI Founder Steve Bellamy Also Announces ITA $25,000 Collegiate / Professional / Amateur Event at Barnes Tennis Center In San Diego July 10-13

Calabasas, Calif. – TYPTI CEO and Chairman Steve Bellamy has announced the inaugural US Open TYPTI Championships, the first major professional and amateur TYPTI event that will take place at Calabasas Pickleball Club near Los Angeles from May 20-24. There will be five professional divisions with $100,000 in total prize money and numerous amateur events, including ratings, seniors and junior divisions. This event will launch the world rankings and sign-ups are now live at TYPTI.com.

“While we only debuted TYPTI a couple months ago, we’re happy to announce that racquet sales, ball sales and adoption have been overwhelming,” said Bellamy, founder of the Tennis Channel. “So, we’re offering up a unique opportunity. Everyone who plays the US Open irrespective of age group, ratings level or success in the event, will end up as part of the historical record on the TYPTI world rankings, and will be part of history by playing the very first US Open.”

Additionally, in partnership with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and Barnes Tennis Center, there will be a professional event in San Diego from July 10-13 during the ITA Collegiate Summer Series Tour stop. This will allow collegiate players to compete for $25,000 of prize money in singles, doubles and mixed professional TYPTI events while they play the ITA tennis event all at the legendary Barnes Tennis Center. There will be a full slate of amateur events as well.

“Barnes Tennis Center has revolutionized the traditional racquet club with 25 tennis, 30 pickleball, and 7 padel courts, and stadiums for tennis and padel,” said Bellamy. “This recent transformation is unparalleled and truly redefines the vernacular, ‘Racquet Club’.” Barnes will be programming TYPTI workouts throughout the year, will stock TYPTI racquets, balls and accessories, and will be another West Coast hub for the sport.

“We are all-in on TYPTI,” said Ryan Redondo, CEO of Barnes Tennis Center “It’s an amazing racquet sport with mind-boggling professional points. It’s incredibly fun to play. And it’s an amazing gateway to all racquet sports. So, we love it and are now officially a four-sport sport racquet club!”

To date, almost all TYPTI events have been at the Calabasas Pickleball Club where most of the research and development has happened. “We’ve gotten to watch TYPTI grow from an idea to the most important new component of racquet sports,” said Brad Gold, Managing Director of Calabasas Pickleball Club. “Engagement has been off the charts.”

Going forward part of the club will be dedicated as the Calabasas TYPTI Club, featuring state-of-the-art video capture, branding and extensive TYPTI workouts, clinics and lessons. The club will also be selling TYPTI specific memberships and as part of the agreement, both parties will take an equity share in the other. “Calabasas is a gold standard for short court racquet sport and an incredible facsimile of the local family tennis club we all knew growing up,” said Bellamy. “It’s been an amazing windfall for TYPTI having this incredible Los Angeles institution in our backyard.”
