Tennis Industry Magazine Names 2018 “Champions of Tennis”

Larry Ellison, the co-founder, executive chairman and chief technology officer of software giant Oracle, has been named “Person of the Year” for 2018 by Tennis Industry magazine in the publication’s [January 2019 issue](http://www.tennisindustrymag.com/issues/201901/index.php). Three Finalists Chosen to Present At Fourth ‘Tennis Industry Innovation Challenge’

Three finalists have been chosen to present at the fourth Tennis Industry Innovation Challenge, which will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24, during the Racquet & Paddle Sports Conference in Orlando, Fla. AccuTennis, PlayTennisConnect and SPARC-Virtual Tennis will present five-minute pitches about their new product or service to a panel of judges—and in front of an audience of tennis and racquet sports industry leaders—in a “Shark Tank”-like competition to determine a winner. USTA Names Fed Cup Team to Face Czech Republic

The USTA and United States Fed Cup Captain Kathy Rinaldi announced that world No. 35 Danielle Collins, No. 48 Sofia Kenin, No. 63 Alison Riske and doubles No. 15 Nicole Melichar will represent the U.S. in the 2018 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Final vs. the Czech Republic November 10-11 in Prague. U.S. Fed Cup Team to Return to Asheville in February

The USTA announced that the U.S. Fed Cup Team will return to Asheville, N.C., for the second consecutive year, as the U.S. Cellular Center has been selected to host the United States’ Fed Cup by BNP Paribas 2019 First Round tie vs. Australia Feb. 9-10. (Full story …)

International Tennis Hall of Fame Forms TeamFAME, a New NJTL Chapter

The institution dedicated to celebrating tennis' most accomplished champions and leaders is now also home to special program dedicated to inspiring the future of the sport. The International Tennis Hall of Fame has officially opened the doors for TeamFAME, a new chapter of the National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) network. USPTA Offers Equivalency Pathway for PTR Members

The United States Professional Tennis Association board of directors has approved an equivalency pathway to membership for current and former certified Professional Tennis Registry members. The program, which will run through 2019, allows PTR certified tennis professionals an expedited process that will consider their current and former certified membership status. (Full story …)

7 ATP Players Donate to Renovate Damaged Houston Courts

The two tennis courts at Sunnyside Park, one of the 44 neighborhood facilities where the Houston Tennis Association (HTA) holds NJTL programs, got a major facelift in September, thanks in part to the generosity of seven ATP World Tour players participating in the April 2018 Fayez Sarofim & Co. New Racquet Sports/Wellness Facility Approved in Raleigh

Triangle Racquet Sports, LLC, with support from the United States Tennis Association (USTA), is excited to announce a state-of-the-art racquet sports and health and wellness facility coming to Brier Creek in Raleigh. The Raleigh City Council unanimously approved a 50-year lease with extensions up to 100 years for the venue located on the 48-acre lot of land owned by the City of Raleigh on Mt. Herman Road. ITA Women's Chps. to Join Men's Event in Tulsa

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association, University of Tulsa and Tulsa Sports Commission announced that beginning in 2019, the ITA Women's All-American Championships will join the ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with tournament matches taking place at multiple sites, including the Michael D. Case Tennis Center and the new Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park, recent winner of the USTA's 2018 National Facility of the Year. (Full story …)

Galbraith Nominated for USTA President, New Board Slate Named

The USTA Nominating Committee has put forth slate for the 2019-2020 term for the USTA Board of Directors. Patrick Galbraith of the USTA Pacific Northwest Section, the current USTA First Vice President, has been nominated to be the next USTA President. Santorum Receives National Public Parks Lifetime Achievement Award

Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) is pleased to announce that its CEO, Dan Santorum, received the National Public Parks Tennis Association (NPPTA) Jean and Hollis Smith Lifetime Achievement Award.
