Hosted by City of Hope at the Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club in Orange County, Calif., the event will honor the Levitz furniture family while supporting lifesaving cancer research and treatment at City of Hope. “We are delighted to have an illustrious family being honored by City of Hope,” said Debra Tous, co-chair of the West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament at City of Hope. “Along with my co-chairs, Rick Powell and Neil Friedman and hundreds of our colleagues, we will celebrate the achievements and promise of City of Hope’s critical research and, at the same time, recognize the extraordinary successes and generous philanthropic contributions of generations of the Levitz family.”

“I’m proud to support City of Hope, an organization committed to finding a cure for cancer and other life-threatening diseases,” said Sam R. Levitz, president, chief executive officer, managing partner and co-owner of Sam Levitz Furniture. “My family and I recently toured City of Hope’s campus and witnessed how our support is making a tremendous impact in the lives of patients and families all over the country.”

“It is through the support of families like the Levitzes that City of Hope is able to make such a difference in the lives of cancer, diabetes, and HIV/AIDS patients and their loved ones,” said Roger Friesen, co-chair of the National Home Furnishings Industry initiative at City of Hope. “My co-chair, Jena Hall, and I welcome this family to the pantheon of honorees who, over the 50-year history of this industry’s partnership with City of Hope, have raised more than $50 million for its innovative research and treatment programs.”

About the West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament

For the past 50 years, the National Home Furnishings Industry (NHFI) has supported one of the world’s foremost cancer research hospitals, City of Hope. From California to North Carolina, this outstanding institution has become the industry’s “charity of choice.” NHFI’s annual West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament has become a great opportunity for industry partners to raise money and awareness for City of Hope while gathering informally to relax and socialize with colleagues and competitors. Since 1989, when the first tournament was founded, it has been held in Southern California. Over its history, tournament proceeds have totaled more than $6.2 million. This year, NHFI will also host City of Hope events in High Point, N.C., Chicago and Boston.
