Tennis Australia, UTR Launch Media Integration for Aussie Open

January 22, 2020

January 20, 2020 (Palo Alto,CA) – Tennis Australia announced that it will integrate Universal Tennis’ proprietary UTR data and rankings into its daily coverage and global broadcast for the 2020 Australian Open.

The broadcast integration marks the one-year anniversary of the long-term strategic partnership between Tennis Australia and Universal Tennis to create new opportunities and accelerate the growth of tennis in Australia through advanced technology and analytics.

Tennis Australia will leverage Universal Tennis’ insights across all of its 2020 Australian Open programming to provide accurate, real-time analysis of all the action throughout the Grand Slam tournament. Features will include daily top tennis matchups, top player lists and integration into the World Feed.

Universal Tennis is building innovative software and products to proliferate tennis throughout the world and create more opportunities for players to find compatible matches. At the core is the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR), the world’s most accurate rating system and the global gold standard for evaluating player performance. UTR rates all players regardless of age, gender or nationality across the same 16.50 scale. It takes into account a player’s most recent 30 matches over the past 12 months, measuring the strength of the competition and games won to provide a real-time view of tennis skill level.

Over the last year, Tennis Australia and Universal Tennis have created innovative new opportunities to grow tennis participation throughout Australia, including the AO2020 UTR Wildcard tournament. This event established a new pathway for all Australian tennis players, regardless of age and ability, to play their way into the main draw of the Australian Open 2020 via the AO Wildcard Playoff in Melbourne.

UTR is an official rating of Tennis Australia, and all players who have participated in Tennis Australia events have a UTR and can activate their free profile at MyUTR.com.
