Tennis Channel to televise 2017 WTT

LOS ANGELES – Tennis Channel will show every match of Mylan World TeamTennis’ 42nd season during the next three weeks, including the championship in early August. In all, the network will devote more than 40 hours of coverage to the league this summer, 15 of them to five live competitions. Grand Slam champions Venus Williams, Andy Roddick and Martina Hingis are among the extensive roster of stars set to play Mylan World TeamTennis in 2017.

Founded by Hall of Famer Billie Jean King in 1974, Mylan World TeamTennis is known for vocal crowds, no-ad scoring, teams with men and women sharing equal roles, and unforgettable multicolored courts. The league has been home to numerous tennis innovations, including on-court coaching, service clocks, player substitutions, halftimes, uniforms with player names on the back, timeouts, Supertiebreakers and let serves remaining in play. Mylan World TeamTennis has featured several of the most accomplished players in tennis, among them Martina Navratilova, John McEnroe, Steffi Graf, Pete Sampras, Chris Evert, Andre Agassi, Serena Williams, Jimmy Connors and Lindsay Davenport.

Tennis Channel’s first live match takes place Tuesday, July 18, at 7 p.m. ET. The battle between New York and Washington will showcase featured players Mardy Fish and Hingis, respectively. The next live match, Friday, July 21, at 8 p.m. ET, will pit San Diego (featured players Ryan Harrison, Shelby Rogers) against Springfield (Jack Sock). The remaining live matches are: Monday, July 24, at 7 p.m. ET – Washington (Williams) vs. Philadelphia (Sloane Stephens); Tuesday, July 25, at 7 p.m. ET – Springfield vs. Washington (Williams); and Thursday, July 27, at 7 p.m. ET – Orange County vs. New York (Fish, Eugenie Bouchard). The 2017 Mylan World TeamTennis Finals will be held in San Diego. Tennis Channel will show the event Sunday, Aug. 6, at 7 p.m. ET.
