Successful 2016 for Head tennis
Kennelbach/Austria — HEAD tennis players are looking back on quite a successful and dominating year with 8 out of 9 ATP Masters event titles, 3 out of 4 Grand Slam titles and two players finishing the season on the top of the Emirates ATP Ranking.
When looking back on 2016, two names keep popping up: Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic. Andy finished the year not only as the season-ending World’s No. 1 player, but was able to cap his season with the 2016 Barclays ATP World Tour Final title, defended his gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, won the 2016 Wimbledon tournament and captured 3 ATP Masters Event titles. Novak, on the other hand, defended his Australian Open title, successfully won his first ever French Open tournament and won 4 ATP Masters Event titles, to finish the year as the World’s No. 2 tennis player. Marin Cilic captured the Cincinnati Masters title and the 8th out of 9th ATP Masters event for HEAD. Finally all three top HEAD players made it to the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals and once more showed the dominance of the HEAD team by qualifying with 3 out of 8 singles players.
With Next Gen players Sascha Zverev and Taylor Fritz, named “ATP Star of Tomorrow,” ready to join the big leagues, 2017 already looks to be another interesting and successful season for HEAD Tennis and its players.
