MAC social to benefit Tenacity

November 14, 2016

MANCHESTER, MA — Manchester Athletic Club’s MAC Tennis program is joining forces with Hall of Fame tennis coach, Nick Bollettieri, to host an adult tennis social this Saturday evening, November 19, at 6:30pm to benefit Tenacity.

Tenacity provides inner city youth with a pathway to success through a combination of academic enrichment, mentoring, family engagement, and tennis/fitness coaching. The program, offered in partnership with Boston Public Schools, improves educational outcomes for students, increases graduation rates, and helps transform the lives of Boston youth. Tennis and fitness activities are the magnets drawing interest from kids who might otherwise have few athletic outlets.

In addition to the fundraiser, MAC Tennis has invited Tenacity to bring a group of junior tennis players to take part in a clinic with Bollettieri, followed by a meet and greet photo opportunity and motivational speech by the world-famous tennis legend. Bollettieri has coached ten #1 players in the world including Andre Agassi, Jim Courier, Martina Hingis, Maria Sharapova, Venus and Serena Williams, and current ace, Kei Nishikori.

During his annual visit to the club whose tennis program he helped design 14 years ago, Bollettieri will give private lessons in 15-minute increments throughout the weekend, adult group lessons on Friday, November 18, from 9-noon, host a 10-and-under Green and Orange Ball Day on Saturday, November 19 from 12:00-2:30pm, and lead High Performance Tennis Academy Days Saturday from 2:30-5:30pm and Sunday, November 20, from 10am-1pm.
