Annacone and Cahill join PlaySight

June 23, 2016

TENAFLY, NEW JERSEY – Today, PlaySight (playsight.com), the company behind the cutting-edge tennis SmartCourt, is announcing that world-renowned tennis coaches Darren Cahill and Paul Annacone have joined on as the new Heads of the Coaching and Player Development team for PlaySight.

As the Heads of the PlaySight Coaching and Player Development team, Annacone and Cahill will assist with the creation of instructional content for PlaySight users and tennis players. Along with this, they will oversee the building of a PlaySight coaching curriculum, using SmartCourt video and analytics technology to work with tennis players of all ages and abilities around the world. Annacone and Cahill will also advise PlaySight in the roll-out of SmartCourts across key collegiate, club, federation, and tournament locations.

“The thing that I’m so excited about with PlaySight is that it answers ‘why,’” said Paul Annacone. “PlaySight, in the right hands, tells you why statistics are what they are. And with a good coach, you take those numbers, you take those ingredients and you plug them into your philosophy. When you have that one-two punch of the right coaching philosophy with the PlaySight visual back-up, it’s a great recipe for any level, whether you are a club player or trying to win Wimbledon.”

Previously, Annacone ran the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Player Development program for two years and worked for the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) in Great Britain for four years as the head coach of men’s tennis. Currently, Annacone is working with the Gold Coast Sports Academy and Tennis Australia as a consultant for their performance and player development program in addition to his role as an analyst for the Tennis Channel.

“I’ve been coaching on the ATP and WTA tours for the last 20 years and never before have we had access to the tennis analytics and high performance technology that PlaySight offers,” added Darren Cahill. “I am excited to be able to assist PlaySight to help continue to grow our sport. This innovative platform will be a game-changer for tennis, its players, and coaches.”

Also a former ATP World Tour tennis player and coach to American Grand Slam Singles Champion Andre Agassi (the oldest ATP World Tour Singles player to be ranked number one in the world) along with Lleyton Hewitt (the youngest ATP World Tour Singles player to be ranked number one in the world), Cahill is currently the coach for WTA Tour singles player Simona Halep and an ESPN Grand Slam tennis analyst.

“What the old school coach needs to realize is that PlaySight is a simplistic way to view complex and invaluable information for you to use – it doesn’t replace the coach, it adds to you,” added Annacone.

Just last month, PlaySight announced a new partnership with the USTA that will bring SmartCourts to the USTA National Campus and will provide the USTA Player Development, its coaches, and players with the most cutting-edge technology and tools available in the sport.
