Djokovic untouchable in Beijing
Beijing, China - HEAD player Novak Djokovic has been crowned the tennis emperor of China after defeating Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-2 to win a record sixth career title at the China Open. The world No. 1, who endorses the HEAD Graphene XT Speed, won his 29th straight match (and 27 consecutive sets) in the capital without a loss. The winner of three of the four Grand Slams this season lost only 18 games all week as he won his ninth title in China (including three in Shanghai).
“This has definitely been my most successful tournament,” said Djokovic. “I played a great tournament overall and continued playing well today. Rafa and I have played 45 times and I hope that continues.” The dominating 90-minute display was a returning triumph for the HEAD player, who confidently handled Nadal’s monster forehand to maintain control throughout.
Djokovic has won his last three matches against Nadal and now owns eight titles this ATP season as he heads for the Shanghai Masters to play as top seed. The Serb stands 68-5 as a superlative season finishes off the final month-long stretch before the World Tour Finals in London next month.
