Tennis Channel teams with Cox for French Open

LOS ANGELES — Tennis Channel and distribution partner Cox Communications are bringing Cox subscribers TV Everywhere access to Tennis Channel in conjunction with the start of the French Open. At no additional cost, Cox users with a Tennis Channel subscription are now able to access the network’s linear coverage stream – from nearly everywhere – on a wide variety of platforms, such as smartphones, tablets and computers.
The two-week French Open, one of the sport’s four majors and the most prestigious clay-court championship in tennis, will begin Sunday, May 25.
Now with the Cox Contour, Cox TV Connect, and Tennis Channel Everywhere apps active there are a number of ways for Cox customers to enjoy Tennis Channel live in home and on the go. The Tennis Channel Everywhere app has an authentication feature that allows Tennis Channel subscribers of participating distribution partners, Cox now among them, to access the network’s linear stream. Once Cox users download the Tennis Channel Everywhere app, they can tap into the live stream of Tennis Channel’s linear television programming by logging in through their Cox user ID and password.
“As we continue to roll out Tennis Channel TV Everywhere through our distribution partners like Cox Communications, we are excited to be able to give tennis fans the access and the content they both want and deserve,” said Patrick Wilson, senior vice president of distribution, Tennis Channel. “Viewers will now be able to take more than 85 percent of the live tennis available on television in the U.S. with them wherever they go and view it whenever they want.”

Thus, tennis’ far-ranging, daylong tournament nature is tailor made for the mobile applications from Cox and Tennis Channel that allow fans to keep up with continuous, live play throughout the entire day with TV Everywhere.
Tennis Channel’s French Open on-air talent, such as Martina Navratilova, Bill Macatee, Lindsay Davenport, Mary Carillo and Ted Robinson, among others, will bring tennis fans more than 250 hours of seemingly round-the-clock coverage at the 2014 tournament – one of the most esteemed tennis events of the year. During the event, the network plans close to 70 live match hours, with almost 60 hours of encore replays and 120 hours of French Open Tonight.
