HEAD Penn and PTR partnership grows

January 7, 2014

Hilton Head Island, SC — Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) announced that in a new multi-year agreement, the organization has selected Penn to be the official endorsed tennis ball of PTR. The partnership builds on the longstanding HEAD endorsement with PTR that spans more than 30 years. The relationship with HEAD and PTR is the longest lasting active sponsorship in the tennis teaching industry.

Penn tennis balls, including the premium Pro Penn Marathon, will be the Official Balls for the PTR International Tennis Symposium and other PTR events. PTR members will receive discounts on all Penn balls, including the Pro Penn with PTR logo. Discounts will also be available on junior equipment from racquets to ROG and foam balls, as well as on teaching tools like targets and throw down lines.

Penn is the market leader with distribution across the country and a strong market share that has been built with other endorsements like USTA League tennis and the ATP World Tour which includes the official ball of ATP tournaments in Indian Wells, Key Biscayne and Cincinnati. This endorsement by PTR teaching professionals expands that list of key partners and will help fuel further growth.

“This was an easy decision for us to make,” said Greg Mason, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for HEAD Penn Racquet Sports. “PTR is growing and it’s a great way to send our message to the grassroots players through PTR professionals. We know the impact they have in the market as we’ve seen it first hand on the racquet side. We couldn’t be more excited to expand our partnership.”

Jeff Ratkovich, HEAD Penn’s Senior Business Manager for Tennis Balls, added, “We’re very eager to unite with PTR to continue growing the game of tennis. HEAD Penn Racquet Sports and PTR share the same core vision of making tennis enjoyable for children and adults of all ages.”

“Signing with Penn is great news for PTR members,” said Dan Santorum, PTR CEO. “Pro Penn balls are the most durable balls on the market, which is a tremendous advantage for tennis teachers and coaches. To have the PTR name on Pro Penn balls along with the prestige the Penn name brings as the world’s bestselling ball is a win-win for both PTR and Penn.”

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 14,600 members in 121 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
