Wilson Dominates 2007 Grand Slam Capturing 7 of 8 Singles Championships
CHICAGO — Wilson rackets again swept the Men’s and Women’s singles championships with Roger Federer and Justine Henin dominating the field at the 2007 US Open. These wins underscore Wilson’s dominance at the Grand Slams in 2007, with Wilson players capturing an incredible 7 of 8 Grand Slam Men’s and Women’s singles titles.
Playing with the [K]Six.One Tour racket that he helped design, Roger Federer captured his 3rd Grand Slam title for 2007, defeating fellow Wilson player Novak Djokovic 7-6, 7-6, 6-4 in the final. This victory, which marks Federer’s 12th career Grand Slam championship, moves him within 2 titles of tying Pete Sampras for most Grand Slam titles ever. This summer Federer also earned the notable distinction of tying tennis legend Bjorn Borg for most consecutive Wimbledon titles.
Justine Henin also proved why she is #1 in the world, defeating Venus and Serena Williams back to back en route to dismissing Svetlana Kuznetsova in straight sets and earning her 2nd Grand Slam championship of the year. Earlier this year, Henin defeated fellow Wilson player Ana Ivanovic in the Women’s final to capture her 3rd consecutive French Open title, marking her 4th French Open crown overall.
The 2007 US Open is the 3rd Grand Slam of 2007 where Wilson has swept both the Men’s and Women’s singles titles. The winning streak began at the Australian Open where Roger Federer and Serena Williams both switched to Wilson’s new [K]Factor technology to win their respective titles. The Federer/Williams Grand Slam combination continued at Wimbledon, this time with Venus Williams earning the crown with her new limited edition gold [K]Factor racket.
Not only did Wilson dominate in the finals of the US Open, but they have also demonstrated the depth of their players on tour with Novak Djokovic, Feliciano Lopez, Ana Ivanovic, Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Justine Henin all having strong showings at this year’s Open as well. The success of these players at the Grand Slams is also reflective of Wilson’s overall dominance and growth as the #1 brand with consumers.
