Racquet Sports Industry Magazine Names 2022 ‘Champions of Tennis’
Michael McNulty of New Orleans, the president and chairman of the board for the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA), has been named “Person of the Year” for 2022 by Racquet Sports Industry magazine in the publication’s January 2023 issue. McNulty led off the magazine’s 22nd annual “Champions of Tennis Awards,” which honor people, businesses and organizations dedicated to improving the sport and business of tennis. (Full story …)

Fan Voting for Hall of Fame Player Category to Take Place Oct. 20-30
Wheelchair tennis legends Esther Vergeer of the Netherlands and Rick Draney of the United States join seven accomplished ATP and WTA players on the ballot for induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame’s Class of 2023. Draney and Vergeer are nominated for the Hall of Fame’s Wheelchair Tennis Category. In the Player Category, 8-time major doubles champion Daniel Nestor of Canada makes his ballot debut. Uniqlo Extends Sponsorship of ITF Wheelchair Tennis Tour

ITF, Grand Slams Join Forces to Support Wheelchair Tennis
The four Grand Slam tournaments and the ITF have come together to pledge over $300,000 in financial support for wheelchair tennis. The fund will provide grants to help wheelchair athletes and national association event hosts impacted by the suspension of the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour and postponement of major wheelchair tournaments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. USTA Awards $50,000+ in Wheelchair Tennis Grassroots Grants
The USTA announced that it is awarding more than $50,000 in USTA Wheelchair Tennis Grassroots grants to 33 deserving wheelchair tennis programs nationwide. Grants were awarded to local organizations that promote and develop the growth of wheelchair tennis and use the sport to help build stronger, healthier communities. The first USTA Wheelchair Tennis Grassroots grants were awarded in 2008 and since then, the USTA has given more than $650,000 to wheelchair tennis programs across the country. (Full story …)
