Vic Braden, Jim Fromuth to Join TI Hall of Fame Aug. 27

Tennis players, and the tennis industry, can thank both the late Vic Braden and Jim Fromuth for helping to improve their games and grow this sport. Braden, whose tennis academies, books and videos brought tennis to the masses, and Fromuth, the founder of a tennis equipment distribution company, both have had a hand in millions of players enjoying the game over the last four decades. Springfield Lasers Win First World TeamTennis Title

Rolex Replaces Citizen as Official Timekeeper of US Open

The USTA announced that Rolex has become an official sponsor of the US Open and will serve as the tournament’s Official Timekeeper and Official Timepiece. Tennis Channel's World TeamTennis Season Begins July 23

Tennis Channel will air eight World TeamTennis matches in 2018 season, including the season-ending championship match. The network will have seven straight days of World TeamTennis beginning on Monday, July 23 (schedule to follow). All eight matches will also be available on-demand on the network's digital subscription service, Tennis Channel Plus. Coverage begins on Monday, July 23, at 9 p.m. ET on Tennis Channel. USTA Foundation Receives $150,000 From Chase

USTA Foundation, the national charitable arm of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), today announced that for the fifth consecutive year, it has partnered with longtime US Open sponsor Chase to award 10 National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) chapters with a grant. This year, Chase has increased those grants to $15,000 to each chapter. Funding supports year-round tennis and education programming through the A.C.E. curriculum (Academic Creative Engagement), the USTA Foundation’s signature academic initiative. In total, Chase has awarded more than $550,000 to select NJTL chapters within the five-year partnership. (Full story …)

Inaugural PTR Hispanic Coaches Conference Set for July 24

On July 24, Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) will host its inaugural Hispanic Coaches Conference, presented with USTA Southern during the BB&T Atlanta Open. The conference is open to all coaches; the event’s goal is to effect change to increase participation of the Hispanic population in coaching tennis. WTT Launches Live-Streaming Platform, WTT.tv

For the first time in World TeamTennis' 43-season history, every WTT match will be available to watch on the league's new streaming platform, WTT.tv presented by GEICO. Croatia to Host Davis Cup Semi vs. U.S. Sept. 14-16

Croatia will host the United States at Znjan Beach in Split, Croatia, on a temporary outdoor clay court in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Semifinal, Sept. 14-16. USTA Awards Wheelchair Tennis Grassroots Grants

The USTA announced that it is awarding $50,000 in USTA Wheelchair Tennis Grassroots Grants to 17 deserving wheelchair tennis programs nationwide. Grants were awarded to local organizations that promote and develop the growth of wheelchair tennis and use the sport of tennis to help build stronger, healthier communities. The first USTA Wheelchair Tennis Grassroots Grants were awarded in 2008 and since then, the USTA has given more than $500,000 to wheelchair tennis programs across the country. (Full story …)
