Professional Pickleball Registry Reaches 5,000-Member Milestone
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (March 1, 2023) — The Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR), the largest global organization of pickleball teaching professionals, has reached a landmark of 5,000 members, paralleling the meteoric growth of pickleball.
“PPR has reached a ‘tipping point’ in terms of membership with interest in becoming educated and certified to teach pickleball skyrocketing,” according to PPR President Dan Santorum. “More than 90 percent of our PPR certification workshops are now sold out—some within just days after being posted.”
The number of PPR workshops held annually has grown from 45 in 2018 to a projected 250 in 2023. Host facilities realize the benefit of educating and certifying their pickleball coaching staff. Operators are opening up their facilities to host workshops so they can identify future coaches, expose their facilities to outside coaches, and get marketing assistance.
“My facility at Queens College in NYC hosts several PPR certification workshops yearly. Almost all of them sell out,” says Hemel Cosme, chair of the PPR. “Hosting PPR workshops is a tremendous benefit to our pickleball program. We plan to host eight PPR workshops this year to meet the increased demand.”
