Southern Tennis Foundation Establishes Mike McNulty Scholarship
ATLANTA (April 1, 2022) — The Southern Tennis Foundation, the charitable affiliate of the USTA Southern Section, is initiating a fundraising campaign to endow a college scholarship in the name of USTA Chairman of the Board and President Mike McNulty.
As USTA President, McNulty has worked to strengthen the tennis industry, to streamline service delivery, and to grow tennis at the grassroots and in public parks—and he has presided over an unprecedented boom in play at all levels. A lifelong player, McNulty has been an exceptional volunteer at every level, previously serving as a founder and President of the Lake Charles (La.) CTA and as President of USTA Louisiana and USTA Southern.
Each year the Southern Tennis Foundation awards college scholarships to seniors who have played school or USTA tennis at least two of their high school years. The primary selection criteria are academic performance and potential, community and school involvement, and demonstrated character. These endowed scholarships are named for men and women who have made exceptional contributions to Southern tennis. Because McNulty is the current USTA President, this will be the Foundation’s first national fund drive.
The STF is the charitable affiliate of the USTA Southern Section. An independent 501(c)3 organization, it provides needs-based scholarships, grants to competi-tive junior players, grants for community and youth-oriented programs, NJTL support and emergency assistance to programs, pros and players. Donations are tax-exempt, and every dollar contributed to the STF goes to programs and players in the southern states.
To donate, send your check to STF/USTA Southern, 5685 Spalding Drive, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092, or go to https://southerntennisfoundation.com/donations/mikemcnulty/.
