PTR Wheelchair Tennis Chps. to be Sept. 24-26 on Hilton Head
The PTR Wheelchair Tennis Championships will be held on Hilton Head Island, Sept. 24 - 26th.
The tournament, typically an ITF event, will be a USTA Level 2 event this year due to COVID and travel restrictions. The tournament includes a Drill Clinic for all players, Masters Doubles division, and a Run/Roll event - all held the evening before play. It will also feature a Players Party oceanside. In conjunction with the tournament, there will be an Instructing Wheelchair Tennis Workshop on Sunday, Sept. 26th from 10am - 2pm.
“We are excited to have the tournament back this year after last year’s hiatus. The players are ready! PTR has hosted this tournament for over 20 years. We are pleased to have all levels of play from Open to D level - and Juniors!” said tournament director, Julie Jilly. Spectators are welcome and encouraged.
The Instructing Wheelchair Tennis Workshop is for perfect for tennis professionals who want to learn the nuances of wheelchair tennis but it’s also available for trainers and physical therapists who want to use tennis as rehab tool. The course is also excellent for wheelchair players themselves to learn to introduce tennis to others.
