PTR Symposium Feb. 10-13; Tribute to Dennis Van der Meer Feb. 9
The Professional Tennis Registry will host its premier coaching event, the International Tennis Symposium, Feb. 10-13 at the Sonesta Resort on Hilton Head Island, S.C. More than 45 industry experts will conduct classroom and on-court presentations at the PTR Symposium.
A gathering and reception celebrating the life of PTR founder Dennis Van der Meer, who passed away July 27, will be on Sunday, Feb. 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Sonesta Resort. To attend, visit ptrtennis.org and click on “Remembering Dennis: Celebration of Life.”
The Symposium will again feature a Tennis Trade Show with demo courts and a tournament where coaches can compete for prize money. Attendees also take part in the Parade of Nations Flag Ceremony and enjoy awards presentations during the annual banquet and membership meeting. For more info and to register, visit ptrtennis.org.
Symposium Presenters will include Scottish coach Judy Murray; former world No. 1 doubles player Gigi Fernandez; Robin Soderling, former world No. 4; Craig O’Shannessy, pro tour strategy analyst; Marie France Mercier of Tennis Canada; LTA Coach Development’s Martin van de Braam; performance psychologist Dr. Jim Loehr; and Corey Gauff, who coaches his daughter Coco Gauff. Topics range from tennis business and sport science to teaching tactics and techniques. More than a dozen three-hour professional development courses will also be offered.
The Society for Tennis Medicine and Science (STMS) has also scheduled its conference at the beginning of the Symposium. Immediately following the Symposium is the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) annual East Coast Conference (Feb. 13-14) and Championships (Feb. 15-16).
