Dunlop Named Official Ball of 2019 Davis Cup Finals
Dunlop will be at the heart of the new-look Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals after being named as the official ball for the event by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Kosmos Tennis. The Dunlop Fort All Court TS ball will be used for the prestigious week-long finals, which will see 18 countries vie for the famous trophy on the indoor hard courts of La Caja Mágica in Madrid from 18-24 November.
It is the first year of the new Davis Cup format, which has been introduced by the ITF, in a partnership with Kosmos Tennis, to adapt to the demands of tennis and make it more attractive to elite players, nations and fans.
The partnership further cements Dunlop’s association with the highest profile events in tennis, adding to official ball deals with the ATP Tour, Australian Open and Nitto ATP Tour Finals. Dunlop is the most-used ball on the ATP Tour in 2019, supplying nearly a third of the full calendar of tournaments and providing players with consistent high-performance tennis balls at elite level.
“We’re delighted to be named as the official ball of the 2019 Davis Cup Finals,” said Masahiro Asahino, SRI’s Head of Tennis Business. “We embrace innovation of the sport and the new format will provide a highly entertaining and engaging week of tennis. Tour players often refer to the Dunlop balls as being the best on tour and we’re proud to be supplying another elite event on the calendar.”
ITF President, David Haggerty said: “The Davis Cup Finals in Madrid will be seven days of world-class tennis as 18 nations all compete to be crowned Davis Cup Champions. Dunlop supplies some of the biggest events in the sport and we are delighted that the Davis Cup Finals can now be added to that list.” To find out more, visit www.dunlopsports.com
