Tennis Channel Launches Podcast Network During US Open

August 27, 2019

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 26, 2019 – With the US Open under way, Tennis Channel is launching the Tennis Channel Podcast Network, a digital home for podcasts dedicated to the sport. The network is uniting six podcasts under the new banner, creating a single destination for listeners and selling advertising across the group. Tennis Channel plans to bring additional podcasts into the fold as the Tennis Channel Podcast Network develops.

Tennis Channel Podcast Network’s initial roster of podcasts includes: “The Coffee Cast” with Mike Cation (@MikeCTennis) and Noah Rubin (@Noahrubin33), “Cracked Interviews Podcast” with Alex Gruskin (@GreatShotPod) and Max Rothman, “The Mini-Break” podcast with Gruskin and Rothman, “Great Shot Podcast” with Gruskin and Rothman, “The Tennis Files” with Mehrban Iranshad (@tennisfiles) and the “Tennis.com Podcast” with Nina Pantic (@NinaPantic1) and Irina Falconi (@IrinaFalconi). The “Tennis.com Podcast” is a property owned by Tennis Channel. The programs cover a variety of topics including the challenger tour, interviews with players and coaches, and analysis of men’s and women’s professional tennis. During the US Open there are two additional podcasts featured on the network. Network announcer Steve Weissman (@Steve_Weissman) hosted a tournament preview ahead of the US Open, “Tennis Channel’s US Open Preview Hosted by Steve Weissman.” There is also a podcast version of Tennis Channel’s lead-in show, Tennis Channel Live at the US Open, “Tennis Channel Live Podcast.” The Tennis Channel Podcast Network can be found at www.tennis.com/podcasts.

Tennis Channel Podcast Network will sell commercials and in-show ads for all podcasts in the network, with revenue shared between the network and the individual podcasts. The channel will help grow the podcasts with on-air and additional network promotion.

“Tennis Channel has become the media hub for the sport across television, digital and print platforms, and the podcast space is a natural evolution for us,” said John MacDonald, senior vice president, content programming. “The popularity and number of podcasts have skyrocketed in recent years. We want the Tennis Channel Podcast Network to become the first destination podcast listeners think of when they’re looking for tennis.”

While the network has developed a new online home for the tennis podcasts, each remains available on most popular podcasting apps, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Google Play.

Tennis Channel plans for the Tennis Channel Podcast Network to serve as a one-stop shop for podcasts covering the tennis world.
