Lynne Rolley, Martin Van Daalen Elected to PTR Board

Hilton Head Island, SC — Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) is pleased to announce two new members of the PTR Board of Directors were elected at the organization’s Annual General Membership Meeting. The new board members who will serve three-year terms are Directors-at-Large are Lynne Rolley and Martin Van Daalen. Leo Alonso was re-elected to another three-year term. Karl Hale was named President.

Lynne Rolley —With more than 50 years of teaching and coaching expertise at every level, Rolley has been the Director of Women’s Tennis for the USTA, coached the Fed Cup Team, PanAm Games and the US National Teams all over the world. She was the Director of Tennis at Berkeley Tennis Club and Moraga Country Club. Most recently, Rolley served as Executive Director of Tennis at La Quinta Resort and PGA West, consistently ranked one of the top tennis resorts in the United States. Currently, she is the Director of Tennis at Meadow Swim and Tennis Club in Orinda, California.

In her early years, Rolley was the first woman to coach a men’s NCAA team at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California. As an adult she was ranked in the Top 10 women in the US, and held several National titles as the #1 ranked junior player. She spent many years coaching top players, such as Lindsay Davenport, Jennifer Capriati, Chanda Rubin and the Williams sisters.

She is a renowned speaker and writer for Tennis Magazine, as well as other publications. Rolley also had her own academy show on appeared on the Tennis Channel. A PTR certified Professional and USPTA Elite Professional, Rolley is also a member of the International Coaches Commission. In 2008, Rolley was inducted into the Northern California Hall of Fame, and in 2019 she was entered the Multi-Cultural Sports Hall of Fame.

Martin Van Daalen has been coaching for more than 35 years, currently as the Director of Programming for Miami Beach Tennis Center and Academy. Before moving to the USA, he was a National Coach and Director of Women’s Tennis in Holland. Van Daalen worked with top players, including Pete Sampras, Jim Courier, Jennifer Capriati, Mary Pierce and Jared Palmer, at Sadddlebrook Resort in Florida. For more than a decade, Van Daalen served as a National Coach for the USTA. In 2013-14, he worked as Director of Player Development for the Finnish Tennis Federation. Van Daalen also wrote two books: Teaching Tennis Volume 1 The Fundamentals of the Game and Teaching Tennis Volume 2 The Development of Advanced Players.

Rolley and Van Daalen join current Directors-at-Large Leo Alonso and Lucy Garvin. Delaine Mast is Vice President, Ken DeHart is Secretary, and Jack Waite is Treasurer. Rodney Harmon is PTR’s Immediate Past President.
