USTA Foundation Receives $150,000 From Chase
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., (July 2 , 2018) - USTA Foundation, the national charitable arm of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), today announced that for the fifth consecutive year, it has partnered with longtime US Open sponsor Chase to award 10 National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) chapters with a grant. This year, Chase has increased those grants to $15,000 to each chapter. Funding supports year-round tennis and education programming through the A.C.E. curriculum (Academic Creative Engagement), the USTA Foundation’s signature academic initiative. In total, Chase has awarded more than $550,000 to select NJTL chapters within the five-year partnership.
On July 13, Chase will help each NJTL grant recipient host a “Return the Serve Fun Day” to celebrate each chapter’s programming and its impact on youth. Thousands of students in the selected cities will take part in this nation-wide celebration.
Each of the 10 local events will feature high-energy and fun tennis activities, off-court educational opportunities, and a healthy lunch for the youth participants of the NJTL programs, along with their families. In addition, the events will include a check presentation to the NJTL chapter leaders by a local Chase representative.
The following NJTL chapters will each receive a $15,000 grant:
- A’s & Aces - New Orleans
- Dallas Tennis Association - Addison, Texas
- First Break Academy - Los Angeles
- MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation - Jacksonville, Fla.
- Metropolitan Tennis and Education Group - Upper Marlboro, Md.
- Houston Tennis Association - Houston
- New York Junior Tennis & Learning - Woodside, N.Y.
- Portland Tennis & Education - Portland, Ore.
- San Francisco Recreation & Parks - San Francisco
- The ACE Project - Riverdale, Ill.
“Chase continues to serve as an outstanding supporter of our charitable mission,” said Dan Faber, Executive Director, USTA Foundation. “The increase in grant funding speaks volumes about Chase’s commitment to the communities we serve. This incredible five-year partnership has truly enhanced our ability to help under-resourced youth with impactful tennis and education programs.”
“As a sponsor of the US Open for 37 years, we’re proud to support the USTA Foundation and its NJTL programs’ mission to help today’s youth build confidence, camaraderie, and ultimately pursue their dreams,” said Kate Schoff, Executive Director for Sports and Entertainment at JPMorgan Chase.
