Dunlop Signs Young, Murray, Watson, Fratangelo, Townsend, Chirico

January 15, 2018

Greenville, S.C. (Jan. 15, 2018) — Dunlop announced Donald Young, Jamie Murray, Heather Watson, Bjorn Fratangelo, Taylor Townsend and Louisa Chirico have all chosen Dunlop racquets as they embark on their 2018 seasons. Young, Murray, Fratangelo and Townsend will play with the Dunlop CX 2.0, while Watson will use the CX 2.0 LS and Chirico will use the Dunlop CV F 3.0 Tour. Each racquet is powered by Srixon technology.

“Our top priority heading into 2018 was to assemble a dynamic group of players who we know will be great ambassadors for our brand. We are extremely excited about this group of players who are familiar and emerging names to tennis fans,” said Kai Nitsche, VP and General Manager for Dunlop Sports Group Americas. “Kevin Anderson made it to the U.S. Open final with his CX 2.0 Tour LE, and so there was definitely a buzz on Tour about our racquets and the technology that goes into them. And today we’re pleased to share the news that Donald, Jamie, Heather, Bjorn, Taylor and Louisa have all joined Team Dunlop.”

Donald Young

Over the past several years, 28-year-old Donald Young has cemented a spot on the ATP Tour with his consistent play as one of the top American players. Entering 2018 he rests at number 61 and will look to improve upon his 2017 second round result in Australia.

Jamie Murray

Jamie Murray is one of the most successful British doubles players of all time with a string of Grand Slam and ATP titles under his belt. He also re-wrote history by helping Great Britain win the Davis Cup in 2015 for the first time since 1936. A former Dunlop player, Murray re-joins the brand hoping to add more trophies to his name and emulate his 2016 season where he reached #1 in the world rankings.

Heather Watson

Current British women’s #2, Heather Watson joins the brand hoping to build on her 3 WTA tour titles and continue to challenge for the number one the ranking spot in her home country. Watson achieved a career high WTA world ranking of 38 in 2015 and is currently ranked 74.

Bjorn Fratangelo

24-year-old Bjorn Fratangelo will look to qualify for the Australian Open for the third straight year in 2018 and get back into the Top 100 (he currently rests at 110). In 2017 Fratangelo reached his first ever ATP Tour semifinal in Newport and took down world number 30 Giles Simon as well.

Taylor Townsend

21-year-old Taylor Townsend finished off her 2017 campaign with three titles in her final five events, raising her ranking from 132 to 95. She’s looking forward to big things in 2018.

Louisa Chirico

In 2018, 21-year-old Louisa Chirico will look to regain her status as one of the most promising young American players. In 2016 she turned her love of clay court tennis into some impressive results, including a run to the semis in Madrid, where she beat Victoria Azarenka along the way.

The new player signings coincide with the global release of Dunlop’s new 2018 CV Series. This range of racquets focuses on providing power, speed and spin through a variety of specifications suited to all playing styles and abilities. The range, powered by Srixon technology, features two different racquet geometries; CV F which is designed for speed, power and comfort and CV designed for power and spin. All CV F models feature the acclaimed Sonic Core technology and the CV series features 2nd generation Sonic Core VG technology, which enhances vibration damping.

The CV Series racquets look to build on the success of the CX and CZ Series racquets which continue to receive very positive feedback following their launch in 2017. Full details of all Dunlop Srixon racquets can be found at www.dunlopsports.com
