Midtown Athletic Clubs Opens Hotel in Chicago

November 11, 2017

Chicago (Nov. 10, 2017) — The Hotel at Midtown opened in Chicago as Midtown Athletic Clubs’ first venture into the hospitality space. Located at the bustling intersection of the city’s Bucktown, Lincoln Park and Logan Square neighborhoods, the 55-room contemporary boutique hotel is the final element of Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago’s $85 million renovation. Welcoming travelers and health-and-fitness enthusiasts alike, the hotel offers a world-class resort experience with access to Midtown’s state-of-the-art athletic club.

“We began this project 5 years ago, with the goal of creating a health-and-fitness property unlike anything else,” says Steven Schwartz, president and CEO of Midtown Athletic Clubs. “The Hotel at Midtown delivers luxury resort amenities coupled with unparalleled health-and-fitness offerings. We believe this pioneer project fills a niche within both the fitness and hospitality industries and it represents an entirely new opportunity for Midtown to serve and interact with guests and members not just in Chicago, but worldwide.”

At the heart of the hotel experience are purposefully curated design and unrivaled wellness offerings. The guest rooms feature views of either the Chicago skyline or the outdoor pool. The luxurious rooms are fitted with hardwood floors and have large windows letting in an abundance of light. The Hotel at Midtown also boasts two specialty rooms: a 2-story, 2,100-square-foot Penthouse Suite, featuring a private terrace with city views; and the V Suite, designed by V STARR Interiors, tennis legend Venus Williams’ design firm. Created to invoke a sense of relaxation and rejuvenation, the V Suite features a private bedroom, calming textures, floor-to-ceiling windows with blackout curtains and marble bathrooms.

Williams also designed the tennis lounge at Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago, one of the world’s largest indoor tennis centers with 16 indoor courts. All hotel guests receive access to the world-class facilities and programs at Midtown Athletic Club, including indoor and outdoor pools, whirlpools, tennis courts, yoga, boxing, cycling studio, a golf simulator, fitness classes and more. The Hotel at Midtown features a luxury spa with a customized menu of signature treatments and services, as well as a full-service hair and nail salon. Other amenities include Shave & Tonic, a gentlemen’s barbershop, two meeting rooms, an executive conference room and a variety of event spaces.

Chicago is known for its restaurant scene, and guests at the hotel will find a variety of dining options. Chromium, Midtown’s flagship restaurant led by Executive Chef Amanda Barnes, offers a creative, seasonal menu with farm-to-table ingredients. Chromium’s grab & go and smoothie bar are convenient options for those on the go. The outdoor pool food and drink service make a day at the pool a delight. A private dining room is also available for events.
