USTA receives $100,000 from CHASE

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - USTA Foundation, the national charitable organization of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), today announced that for the fourth consecutive year it has partnered with longtime US Open sponsor Chase to award 10 National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) chapters with a $10,000 grant each. This donated money will go toward year-round tennis and education programming that engages kids in the A.C.E. curriculum (Academic Creative Engagement).

On July 14, Chase will also help each NJTL grant recipient host a “Return The Serve Fun Day” to celebrate each chapter’s programming and its impact on youth.

Each event will include a variety of tennis-related activities for the youth participants of the NJTL programs, along with their families. In addition, the events will include a check presentation to the NJTL chapter leaders by a local Chase representative.

The following NJTL chapters will each receive a $10,000 grant:

Five programs will each receive their fourth consecutive Chase Return the Serve grant including A’s and Aces, Dallas Tennis Association, MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation, New York Junior Tennis & Learning, and Portland After-School Tennis & Education, totaling $40,000 to help support their infrastructure. In addition, Houston Tennis Association and Youth Tennis Advantage will be granted their third grant for a total of $30,000 each.

“Chase has been an outstanding supporter and partner of the USTA Foundation, and we can’t thank them enough for these generous grants,” said Dan Faber, Executive Director, USTA Foundation. “We are fortunate to have Chase continue to invest in our participants on and off the tennis court. Our partnership with Chase helps deserving youth to excel academically, through tennis, and ultimately through life.”

“It’s important that we equip our kids with the skills they need to succeed at a young age, most importantly through education and physical activity,” said Barbara Paddock, Managing Director for Sports and Entertainment at JPMorgan Chase. “As a sponsor of the US Open for 36 years, we’re proud to support the USTA Foundation and its NJTL programs’ mission to help today’s youth build confidence, camaraderie, and ultimately pursue their dreams.”

USTA Foundation, the national charitable organization of the USTA, brings together the powerful combination of tennis and education to change lives of under-resourced youth. The Foundation utilizes financial grants, scholarship opportunities, curricula, technical assistance and training to make a lasting difference, and it’s with a primary focus is to develop and ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) network. The NJTL network features more than 500 chapters that reach more than 225,000 youth on an annual basis. The Foundation raises money and public awareness to support these life-changing programs through private donations, corporate sponsorships and foundations, as well as its special fundraisers held throughout the year, including the US Open Opening Night Gala, the US Open Paver program, World Tennis Day and a series of Pro-Ams on both coasts, to name a few. To date, the Foundation has awarded more than $25 million in grants and scholarships to more than 270 programs, helping to serve up dreams for thousands of children and adults throughout the country.
