USPTA HoF to induct Burwash

September 20, 2016

HOUSTON – Peter Burwash will be the latest tennis-teaching professional to be inducted into the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Hall of Fame. USPTA, the world’s oldest and largest association of tennis-teaching professionals, will recognize Burwash at its annual national awards presentation during the USPTA World Conference at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa on Tuesday, Sept. 27 beginning at noon.

“Peter has made an incredible impact on our profession and in the tennis industry, and USPTA is honored to be able to recognize him,” said USPTA CEO John Embree. “Throughout his career, he has made an enormous impact to our mission of elevating the standards of tennis-teaching professionals and coaches across the country and around the world.”

Burwash will join the ranks of only 18 others when he is inducted into the USPTA Hall of Fame. The association’s highest honor recognizes excellence in the tennis profession and commitment to USPTA. In 2015, Burwash was inducted into the Tennis Industry Hall of Fame in a ceremony in New York City, where his name is on a plaque that resides at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, R.I.

Burwash is the founder and president of Peter Burwash International, which for the past 41 years has been the world’s largest tennis management company operating in 32 countries. PBI was named “One of the Ten Best-Managed Companies in America” by author James O’Toole in his book, “Vanguard Management.” He is a featured international speaker for Fortune 500 companies and the author of 11 books, including “The Key to Great Leadership.” As a player, he competed on the ATP Tour from 1968-74, won 19 international singles and doubles titles, and was a former Canadian No.1 and Davis Cup Player.

The USPTA National Awards program is conducted annually. Nominations are submitted by the organization’s 17 divisions and by individuals. Recipients in each category are decided by the USPTA Awards Committee. For more information on USPTA’s annual awards program, visit uspta.com/awards.
