Registration open for USPTA Conference

HOUSTON – The United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) announced that registration is now open for the 2016 USPTA World Conference at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, Calif. The five-day conference brings together the leading tennis-teaching professionals and coaches in the industry to share best practices, and will include a series of interactive on-court sessions and presentations. The USPTA World Conference is the country’s largest gathering of tennis professionals, industry leaders and representatives, manufacturers, wholesalers and media. In addition to the educational offerings, USPTA hosts its Board and Executive Committee meetings, evening parties, industry meetings, the nation’s largest tennis-only buying show, silent auction, awards presentation, Masters Invitational tennis tournament and more.

This is the premier educational event for the tennis industry, designed to put tennis-teaching professionals at the top of their game with seminars and specialty courses from the world’s leading experts. USPTA members will earn 10 continuing education credits for a full registration, plus additional credits for courses attended. All sessions will fall under one of four categories: business, teaching, facility management and sport science.

A few of this year’s speakers include Todd Martin, CEO of the International Tennis Hall of Fame; Peter Burwash, founder and president of Peter Burwash International; Tim Mattek, father and coach of WTA player Bethanie Mattek-Sands; Gerry Faust, business leader, consultant to Fortune 500 companies, and president of Faust Management Corporation; Michele Krause, National Cardio Tennis Manager; and Hank Pfister, Director of Tennis & Fitness at Stockdale Country Club in Bakersfield and a former ATP TOUR player.

This year will mark the first time the USPTA has been back to the West Coast since 2012. It is also the final year of the first three-year professional development period. USPTA certified Professionals are required to earn 6 continuing education credits in a three-year period.

The USPTA World Conference is also the host to the USPTA Buying Show, the nation’s largest tennis-only trade show, attended by tennis-teaching professionals, industry leaders and tennis media. Once again this year, attendees will be able to access offers from the top tennis manufacturers and companies through a Virtual Event Bag before and after the show. Additionally, a silent auction for the USPTA Foundation and a reception will be held in conjunction with the Buying Show.
