Gold rush at World Championships

Cali, Colombia – HEAD Penn’s top players continued their dominance on the international racquetball stage by winning a trio of gold medals at the 2016 International Racquetball Federation’s (IRF) World Championships in Cali, Colombia.

Rocky Carson (Ladera Ranch, California) captured his 5th consecutive IRF World Championship in the Men’s Singles division. Rocky’s performance helped pace the United States Men’s Team to a gold medal in the team completion. Carson has now won 16 individual medals while competing for the United States in global competitions. Eight of those medals are gold, including one from last year’s Pan American Games in Toronto.

Paola Longoria (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) won the Women’s Singles and finished second in the Women’s Doubles divisions at the World Championships. Paola’s performances led Mexico to victories in the Women’s Singles and Overall Team completions. The Women’s Singles title is Longoria’s fourth consecutive World Championship Gold Medal. She now has a combined 24 individual and team medals in international play.

HEAD Penn’s Aimee Ruiz was part of the winning United States team to achieve the gold medal in the Women’s Doubles division. This World Championship is Aimee’s third overall and her first since 2008. Ruiz also holds three gold medals in doubles from the Pan Am Championships and a pair of silver medals from the Pan American Games. She is a 10-time US National Doubles Champion.
