Solomon to be honored by ADL

LOS ANGELES - Tennis Channel President Ken Solomon will be honored by the Anti-Defamation League tomorrow at the organization’s 2016 Entertainment Industry Dinner in Beverly Hills, Calif. The event recognizes his consistent efforts to speak out against prejudice and intolerance. Tennis Channel’s award-winning broadcaster Bill Macatee will serve as master of ceremonies, with Hall of Famer and network analyst Martina Navratilova presenting Solomon with the award.

Previous industry honorees have included Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Mark Burnett, Brett Ratner and Ben Silverman.

Solomon is Southern California Co-Chair of the administration’s National Finance Committee and National Finance Co-Chair of the Democratic National Committee and is a member of President Obama’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities. He has been named “Humanitarian of the Year” by H.E.L.P. Group, one of the largest and most influential children’s charities in the United States, for which he serves on the board of directors.

In 2009, Solomon made the decision to cancel Tennis Channel’s coverage of the WTA women’s Dubai championships due to the United Arab Emirates’ visa denial to an Israeli player despite the fact she had qualified for the event. The cancellation of coverage lead to Shahar Peer being granted a visa to play in 2010, where she became the first Israeli female athlete to ever compete in the country.
