Vargas continues career year
Warren, New Jersey - HEAD Penn professional touring player Maria Jose Vargas won her second career professional tournament on Sunday at the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) New Jersey Open event. Vargas dropped the first game of the final before winning the next three games to capture the title. Maria’s first career professional victory came last December, also on the Eastern Seaboard in Virginia.
Currently ranked as the No. 2 player world, Vargas was named the LPRT’s Rookie of the Year in 2013. While skyrocketing up the professional rankings, she is also playing at a high level on the international stage for Argentina. At the 2014 Pan American Racquetball Championships Maria captured the Gold Medal and at the 2014 World Championships she took home the Bronze Medal.
HEAD Penn’s Paola Longoria, the current No. 1 ranked player in the world, reached the semifinals in New Jersey.
The LPRT will next take to the courts at the end of March outside Los Angeles.
