Osei named PTR Volunteer of the Year

Hilton Head Island, SC — Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) presented its annual awards last night during the 2015 PTR International Tennis Symposium. The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis teachers and coaches, a trade show and tournament, is being held until February 22 on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Fran Osei, of Haverstraw, New York, has been named PTR Volunteer of the Year. A PTR member since 1993, Osei is a familiar face at tennis conferences and symposia.

She is the Director of Tennis for the Ramapo (New York) Parks and Recreation, as well as Manager and Tennis Director for the Ramapo Tennis & Swim Facility. In her position, Osei is responsible for multiple tennis facilities, budgets, maintenance and improvements, programming, and recruiting and developing staff.

Osei is the recently elected 1st Vice President of USTA Eastern and serves on the Strategic Planning Committee, Incentive Grant Committee and Chairs the Community Development Committee. She also developed a Volunteer Board and Committees for Eastern’s New York Southern Region. Osei has served the USTA nationally as a member of the Tennis in the Public Parks Committee and the Leadership & Learning Committee. She is also a founding member and on the Board of Directors of the Rockland Tennis & Education Foundation. She is also a member of the recently installed PTR Women’s Committee. And that’s just scratching the surface of what she has done for tennis.

Osei also serves her community as a member of the Zoning Board, and has raised millions of dollars for The Good Samaritan Hospital, where she once worked as a Certified Critical Care Nurse, which explains a lot about her willingness to serve others. A conduit for connecting and helping people, Osei is a consummate volunteer with a heart of gold.

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 15,000 members in 125 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
