TGA Clinics will impact area youth

January 8, 2015

LA QUINTA, CA — The sports of golf and tennis, which are the two most played sports by adults and least played by youth, rarely come together for major events, but thanks to Humana, the Clinton Foundation, PowerBilt Golf and USTA Southern California, youth will have a unique opportunity to receive top golf and tennis instruction during the upcoming PGA Tour’s Humana Challenge on Sunday Jan. 25.

Los Angeles based TGA Premier Golf and Tennis, the leading school-based golf and tennis enrichment program in the country, will conduct two youth sports clinics during the final round of the popular PGA Tour event, which takes place in La Quinta, Calif.

The TGA Premier Youth Tennis Clinic presented by USTA Southern California (Southern California Tennis Association) will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the PGA WEST Tennis and Fitness Center, and the TGA Premier Junior Golf Clinic presented by PowerBilt will be conducted from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the PGA WEST driving range. Open to youth ages six and up, the free clinics are a great opportunity for kids to learn the lifetime sports of tennis and golf in a fun and exciting atmosphere.

Participants are invited to take part in either of the clinics or both. They will be provided all golf and tennis equipment at no cost, and be presented with a “goodie” bag and complimentary admission to the Humana Challenge that day.

Through TGA’s commitment to physical fitness and health components including the USTA’s “Lets Move” campaign, it is a natural fit to get involved with Humana and the Clinton Foundation. TGA’s golf and tennis programs helps fight childhood obesity by incorporating daily physical activity that helps to burn calories, improve motor skills, improve the immune system and develop greater hand-eye coordination.

“We are very enthusiastic about the opportunity to work with Humana with its similar mission on kids’ health, and giving back to our community and Southern California by enriching the lives of youth through these lifelong sports,” Ross Kvinge, CEO of PowerBilt and owner of the TGA of Coachella Valley said.

“After seeing first hand how the TGA programs are impacting kids through our longtime PowerBilt relationship in golf, we quickly added tennis and thought this would be a great event to showcase both TGA programs at this marquee event.”
