Club Med Generation Cup expanding

September 22, 2014

Hall of Famer Rosie Casals with her company Sportswoman, Inc., and Rich Neher with Tennis Media Group have made a change to the club med generation cup series. It is now open to any one wishing to play in the new team tennis format. Men, women and juniors welcome! You can organize your own team or we will put one together for you.

Grand Slam winner Rosie Casals stated: “As attractive as our Senior tournaments were, we found that there was more interest in having a wider range of players participating in our tennis tournaments rather than limit it to Senior players only.”

The new Team Tennis format allows players of all ages to compete in doubles and mixed doubles in a team environment and as an adult or junior player. The format will consist of two out of three sets in a round a robin format with the third set being determined by a 10-point tie-break. The participants will play about 2 hours each day and still have time to enjoy all the amenities Club Med has to offer.

“Being the host and Title Sponsor of the Club Med Generation Cup Series is a natural fit for Club Med. Sports have been at the core of Club Med’s DNA for nearly 60 years and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Rosie Casals and Rich Neher in the launch of this new tennis series” said Patrick Mitchell, Vice President Sales USA. Patrick added that “with Sandpiper Bay as the home of the Club Med Tennis Academy, this will be the perfect setting for the championship event in May 2015.”
