Team HEAD Penn hauls in the medals
Highlands Ranch, CO — Players from across the country descended on the hills outside Denver for the USA Racquetball Junior Olympic Championships, searching for a spot on the USA Junior National Team. Players on Junior Team HEAD Penn took home 18 medals from the event and three HEAD Penn players earned spots on the National Team. Connor Laffey (Salem, OR) reached the finals of the Boy’s 18 & Under Singles and Doubles divisions to earn a place on the National Team that will be heading for Cali, Columbia for the World Junior Championships in October. Joining Connor on the National Team will be Jordan Barth (Cold Spring, MN) after his championship victory in the Boy’s 14 & Under division. Jordan Cooperrider (Palm Harbor, FL) won Gold Medals in both the Girl’s 16 & Under Singles and Doubles divisions to also earn a place on the National Team and a trip to Columbia. Along with a spot on the National Team, Connor Laffey was named USA Racquetball’s Junior Male Athlete of the Year at the tournament. Laffey and Cooperrider are coached by HEAD Penn’s legendary racquetball instructor, Fran Davis. Other top finishers for Junior Team HEAD Penn include:
- Josh Lebow (Salem, OR) - Fourth Place Boys’ 18 & Under Singles / Second Place 18 & Under Mixed Doubles
- Pete Ulliman (Westerville, OH) - Third Place Boy’s 18 & Under Doubles
- Evan Wargo (Clearwarter, FL) - Third Place Boy’s 16 & Under Doubles / Third Place 16 & Under Mixed Doubles
- Tommy Andraos (Laguna Niguel, CA) - Second Place Boy’s 12 & Under Doubles
- Kristine Holman (Salem, OR) - Fourth Place Girl’s 16 & Under Singles & Doubles / Third Place 16 & Under Mixed Doubles
- Graciana Wargo (Clearwarter, FL) - Fourth Place Girl’s 12 & Under Singles / Second Place Girl’s 12 & Under Doubles
- Graciana Wargo’s finish earned her a spot on the National Esprit Team.
