Longacre named acting head pro
Sea Colony, Bethany Beach, DE — Austin Longacre, the University of Delaware’s all-time career singles win leader upon his graduation, joins the Sea Colony Tennis Center as Acting Head Pro for the 2014 summer season.
In addition to teaching private lessons and adult and junior clinics, Longacre will lead this summer’s sold-out Nike Junior Camps and the Nike Tournament Training Camp. No stranger to Sea Colony, Longacre spent summer vacations working as a seasonal pro for the seaside resort’s nationally and globally recognized tennis program.
A four-year letterman, Longacre ended his playing tenure with a record of 70-38 - the most solo career wins in the school’s history. He also posted a doubles record of 56-41. Longacre is among the most decorated players in UD men’s tennis history.
“I am excited to focus on juniors this summer,” Tennis Director Thomas Johnston said. “I am delighted to have Austin join our summer program as head pro. He understands how to work with young people and is able to challenge them to achieve new heights.”
After graduation, the Landenberg, PA native attended Palm Beach Atlantic University, earning a master’s degree in business administration, before joining the Blue Hen’s staff as an associate coach. He currently lives in Lewes, Del.
