August 25, 2013

NEW YORK — The USTA and Time Warner Cable today announced a multi-year sponsorship for the US Open. Through the partnership, Time Warner Cable will serve as an Official Sponsor of the US Open Tennis Championships in New York City across its core products and services, including digital cable, high speed internet, home phone, and IntelligentHome.

“Our partnership with USTA aligns with our Enjoy Sports Better brand experience, giving customers even more opportunities to show their passion as sports fans”

“We are very pleased to be partnering with a leader such as Time Warner Cable. We fully expect that their innovative approach to sponsorship activation and best in class services will bring additional enhancements to US Open fans,” said Lew Sherr, Chief Revenue Officer at the USTA.

“Our partnership with USTA aligns with our Enjoy Sports Better brand experience, giving customers even more opportunities to show their passion as sports fans,” said Jeffrey A. Hirsch, EVP, Chief Marketing Officer, Residential Services of Time Warner Cable. “We couldn’t be happier to bring them closer to the excitement and action of every serve, ace and winner of the US Open.”

The partnership will encompass promotional efforts including advertising across select US Open platforms and properties as well as the “Time Warner Cable Experience”, an on-site activation space, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center during the tournament. At the “Time Warner Cable Experience,” US Open attendees will find a 6 court FanVision video wall, appearances from former tennis greats, a special umpire chair photo opportunity, charging stations and more. During Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day, Time Warner Cable’s Connect a Million Minds, through its STEM in Sports campaign, will be supporting the “STEM in Tennis” station within their space where participants will explore some of the individual components of a winning tennis shot as well as the math and science behind them.

To kick-off the partnership in the inaugural year, Time Warner Cable will be the exclusive sponsor of US Open FanVision, and will feature a 6 court FanVision video wall in the “Time Warner Cable Experience” as well as providing the first 500 Time Warner Cable customers daily free access to FanVision. FanVision’s easy-to-use device enhances the fan experience through in-depth video, up-to-date data and live audio coverage. Tennis fans on-site are able to rent the device at multiple locations throughout the grounds or reserve their unit in advance online at usopen.org. The FanVision device allows users to follow their favorite players with custom alerts, live score updates, match stats, and many additional features. The information and content streams live without delays on the high-quality dedicated multichannel network.

Time Warner Cable will also have a strong presence with on and off the court signage, including prominent branding on the umpires chairs, in Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong stadiums.
