StubHub to sponsor Rogers Cup

August 2, 2013

SAN FRANCISCO — StubHub, the world’s largest ticket marketplace, is sponsoring the 2013 Rogers Cup presented by National Bank in Toronto. The women’s tournament, featuring an elite field including World No. 1 Serena Williams and No. 2 Maria Sharapova, will be hosted in Toronto, August 3 – 11 at Rexall Centre at York University and will be StubHub’s second major tennis sponsorship.

“StubHub shares our passion for the fan experience and is committed to enhancing the on-site activities to provide the best possible product for our customers.”

The sponsorship is focused on the Toronto event which rotates annually between a Premier 5 WTA event featuring the women and an ATP Masters 1000 event featuring the men.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Rogers Cup in Toronto, and look forward to the tournament this week,” said Greg Ivry, StubHub Business Development Director. “As StubHub expands its marketing presence into Canada, this partnership is a perfect match for us to introduce our brand and service to tennis enthusiasts throughout Canada.”

StubHub will be the title sponsor of the tournament’s main stage area, where activities include live music, player autograph sessions and Q&As and other fan friendly activities.

StubHub’s goal to enhance the fan experience will continue to be a priority at Rogers Cup, including the “Move of the Match” promotion, which randomly upgrades four fans at Centre Court each session. The StubHub Smile Booth will also have a home at the tournament. Throughout opening weekend, StubHub will be giving away seat cushions to fans in attendance, engaging them with the brand and offering a special keepsake.

”We are pleased to have StubHub on board as a partner for Rogers Cup presented by National Bank in Toronto,” said Joe Lowes, director of corporate partnerships, Tennis Canada. “StubHub shares our passion for the fan experience and is committed to enhancing the on-site activities to provide the best possible product for our customers.”

The Rogers Cup partnership marks StubHub’s second major sponsorship in the region, the first being an agreement with the Ottawa Senators. It also marks StubHub’s second tennis partnership as it recently inked a deal with the Lawn Tennis Association in Britain earlier this year.
