Wilson sweeps Wimbledon juniors titles

CHICAGO — Wilson’s next generation players, Eugenie Bouchard and Filip Peliwo, made Canadian history this weekend by capturing the 2012 Girls’ and Boys’ Wimbledon Singles titles respectively. Bouchard, playing with her Wilson Steam racket, became the first Canadian to win a junior Wimbledon Singles title and captured the Girls’ Doubles title with Townsend. Fellow Canadian Filip Peliwo won the Boys’ Singles finals with his Wilson Blade 98 racket.

Eugenie and Filip have a bright future,” said Renaud Vallon, global tour director of Wilson Racquet Sports. “Wilson’s next generation are extremely passionate about the game and are committed to excel. We are proud to support our young players and give them the tools they need, as they continue their pursuit for more wins.”

Bouchard took the opening set in 29 minutes before starting the second set with a break. It took her one hour to earn victory and claim the title that propelled her early career forward with a giant leap.

Peliwo fell behind 5-2 in his first set, but fought back winning five straight games to take the first set. With strong momentum in the second set, the 18-year old powered his way through to a win.

The Wilson Steam is a lightweight and powerful frame with great stability for maximum spin. Top tour players Kei Nishikori and Petra Kvitova use the Steam. The Wilson Blade Team flex and pinpoint accuracy make it the racket of choice among top professionals, including Serena and Venus Williams.
