Eagleton to Hold Workouts, Clinics at Sea Colony

July 30, 2012

Bethany Beach, Delaware — Former All-American, touring pro and accomplished tennis coach John Eagleton brings decades of playing and teaching experience to Sea Colony Tennis Resort for a series of workouts, clinics and more on Saturday, Aug. 4, and Sunday, Aug. 5.

On Saturday, Eagleton will host a junior and adult workout from 3-5 p.m., immediately followed by an exhibition with Sea Colony’s group of pros. Cost for the workout is $50 and all ages are invited to attend. Sunday, the former ATP World Tour Pro will oversee the Adult Intermediate and Advanced clinics from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a free Q&A session where he will discuss the evolution of the modern game. Clinics are $20 with 24-hour advanced registration and $25 within 24 hours. Registration is available online at SeaColonyTennis.net or by calling the tennis center at 302-539-4488.

A four-time All-America player while at the University of Miami, Eagleton was once ranked the No. 3 junior in the world. After turning pro, Eagleton shot up to world rankings of 220 in singles and 107 in doubles in just five tournaments. The South African played on the ATP/WTA tours for eight years.

Along with former student and Grand Slam doubles champion Ellis Ferreira, Eagleton currently runs the Eagleton-Ferreira Tennis Academy in Sarasota, Florida. With more than 20 years of coaching experience, he now teaches the modern playing techniques of the current players on the ATP and WTA tours.

With 34 tennis courts, including four indoor and 14 Har-Tru clay, and 25 teaching professionals, Sea Colony Tennis, under Tennis Director Thomas Johnston, offers a wide range of camps, clinics and private instruction to tennis players of all ages and skill levels.

Sea Colony was named a 2012 Outstanding Facility of the Year by the United States Tennis Association thanks to its world-class tennis offerings. The southern Delaware beach and tennis resort has earned national global honors, including being named a Top 50 resort and the No. 13 tennis camp in the world, as well as the No. 4 for the best overall children’s programs and No. 5 for best junior programs, by TennisResortsOnline.com, an online publication whose rankings are determined by experienced tennis players. Sea Colony was ranked earlier this year by TENNIS magazine, which listed the resort community among its Top 50 American Resorts, including No. 3 in the Mid-Atlantic region.
