Omni Amelia Island partners with Cliff Drysdale
Amelia Island, FL — Cliff Drysdale Tennis is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Omni Amelia Island Plantation, which will include the management of it’s tennis program, as stated by Cliff Drysdale Tennis’ CEO, Don Henderson, today.
The AAA Four Diamond Florida beach resort, located north of Jacksonville near Fernandina Beach features luxurious accommodations, family-friendly activities and grand, onsite meeting spaces making it the ideal location for business or pleasure. Recently the resort announced a complete expansion project named The Re-Imagination of the Omni Amelia Island Plantation. This incredible $85 million re-imagination marks an exciting new chapter in the resort’s 40-year heritage and is currently underway to bring guests a beach destination experience unparalleled in Florida. When completed in the Spring of 2013, a new vision of luxury will offer 155 new ocean-front rooms and suites just steps away from the Atlantic ocean, an additional 20,000 square feet of state-of-the-art flexible meeting space (increasing the total meeting space at the resort to 70,000 square feet), a new lobby with floor-to-ceiling ocean views and a new two-tier pool area with ocean view bar and outdoor terrace.
The beautiful tennis facility at the resort features 23 Har-Tru® fast-dry clay courts shaded beneath majestic live oaks where guests enjoy play by day or night with three lighted courts. Since 1974, legends of tennis including Andre Agassi, Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, Martina Hingis, Maria Sharapova and the Williams sisters have appeared at Racquet Park.
“As we continue to elevate the overall experience of the Omni Amelia Island Plantation, tennis is a vital and integral component to the overall destination. With our world-class facility, it was imperative that we find an organization to partner with us to define the tennis programming at the Omni,” said Paul Eckert, General Manager at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation. “With a strong southeast regional presence, unparalleled programming opportunities and the strong involvement of the entire community, we knew Cliff Drysdale Tennis was the next step to further enhancing our resort.”
“Amelia Island was born during tennis’s boom years and was designed to be a mecca for tennis enthusiasts and vacationers, and that’s what it became,” states tennis industry legend and owner of Cliff Drysdale Tennis, Cliff Drysdale. “It boasts among the most beautiful center courts in the world. This tree-laden showpiece hosted pro matches for years that still linger in the minds of those who viewed them live or watched on TV. Amelia Island is the crown jewel of tennis clubs, and it is our aim to revitalize the tennis community and make Amelia, again, a premier destination for players around the world.”
