Wilson Continues As #1 Tour Racquet Brand
CHICAGO — Wilson continues its leadership position as the overall #1 racket brand on the Pro Tour, according to the 27th annual Wimbledon Racquet, Clothing & Equipment Census carried out by Sports Marketing Survey, Inc., which measures the brands competitors use at each event throughout the tournament. Wilson once again retains its position as the overall #1 racquet brand at Wimbledon 2011, with 191 players selecting this brand as their racquet of choice - an increase of 6 players since 2010.
With another year of leading the tour, Wilson continues as the clear front runner of the industry with 32% of the competitors choosing a Wilson racquet. Wilson remains the racquet of choice for over a quarter of Men’s Singles and top choice for Ladies Singles as well as Doubles, Juniors and Veterans categories.
Wilson continues to gain presence with young competitors at Wimbledon. A total of 33% of junior participants played with a Wilson racquet at Wimbledon.
The greatest momentum for Wilson is in apparel on the Pro Tour with an increase of players choosing to wear Wilson apparel as they compete on the grass of Wimbledon. Wilson has seen the second biggest change in 2011 with a 11 players in a Wilson shirt/dress and 13 in shorts/skirts and is now rivaling the other major tennis racquet brands featuring in clothing.
