Grand Slam Line-Up for the Marbella Masters
Hotel Puente Romano and Northern Vision are delighted to announce the full line-up for The Marbella Masters 2011 taking place at the Puente Romano Tennis Club 25th-27th August.
In addition, to the 11 time Grand Slam Champion, Bjørn Borg and former World Number 1, Yevgeny Kafelnikov will be joined by Wimbledon Champion Pat Cash and former top 15 players Younes El-Alanoui and Ronald Agenor. Iranian tennis trickster, Mansour Bahrami will also return to the Masters this year.
“It is an honour for our city to host the 2011 Marbella Masters”, says Angel Mora, City Councilor of Sports. “It is a world-class sporting event that Marbella is proud to host, it will attract some tennis’ best ever players.
The club is particularly excited to welcome back Bjorn Borg to the hotel. Bjorn is very familiar with the clay courts of Hotel Puente Romano as he managed the club after it first opened in 1979.
Talking ahead of the tournament in August, Bjorn said: “I am really looking forward to returning to Puente Romano Tennis Club where l have so many friends and great memories.”
“We are delighted and so proud that Bjørn will play at tournament this year”, said Anders Borg, Tournament Director. “He is a true tennis legend and was a hero of mine and many others during his distinguished career.”
With beautiful weather, scenery, culture and an incredible culinary scene, Marbella is the perfect setting for such an esteemed event. Angel Mora went on to comment: “On behalf of the city I would like to invite visitors to Marbella, to experience all the area has to offer and to enjoy this prestigious event that is unique in Spain.”
As a member of the ATP, the club has hosted various prestigious international tournaments over the years including the Davis Cup and the WTA. Today, the club still attracts the world’s greatest tennis players and fans.
