ITHF to honor Agassi, Kellmeyer
On Saturday, July 9, all eyes will be on Center Court for the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony honoring one of the most exciting athletes to ever pick up a tennis racquet, the one-and-only Andre Agassi. In the Contributor Category, tennis industry executive Peachy Kellmeyer will be inducted, in recognition of her dedication and hard work that has been instrumental in growing women’s professional tennis around the world. The Induction Ceremony will be held at 12 p.m., and will be preceded by a press conference with the inductees at 9:45 a.m.
The Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, the only pro tournament played on grass courts in North America, will be held July 4 - 10, 2011 on the historic grass courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island. The player field for the tournament indicates an exciting week on the courts, as many of this season’s top newsmakers are committed to play. Headlining the field will be defending champion and No. 1 American Mardy Fish. Also scheduled to compete is Croatia’s Ivo Karlovic, who set the record for the fastest serve in tennis history earlier this year, rising star young American Ryan Harrison and fellow American Ryan Sweeting, who made news earlier this year with a dream week in Houston when he went from wild card entry to tournament champion.
Combining exciting pro tennis action and the rich history of tennis, the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships and International Tennis Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony offer a week filled with dynamic, unique story opportunities.
