Knoth Wins Junior World Championship
Phoenix, AZ — Already having one of the most impressive junior racquetball resumes in history, Taylor Knoth finished his junior career with another World Championship. Knoth survived an 11-10 tiebreaker match in the quarterfinals to capture the Boy’s 18 & Under Singles division at the International Racquetball Federation’s (IRF) 2010 World Junior Racquetball Championships. Taylor has been coached since he was seven years old by Hall of Famer and member of the HEAD Penn Staff, Fran Davis.
“Taylor has been an unbelievable student his entire junior career. I truly believe he has what it takes to someday be the #1 ranked pro player in the world!” said Fran Davis.
His latest championship hardware will sit next to four other IRF Junior World Championships, 16 USA Racquetball (USAR) National Junior Titles and 3 USAR National High School Titles. As a freshman at the University of Oregon last spring, Knoth finished second in the USAR Intercollegiate Championships.
While Taylor will now embark on a goal of a fulltime professional racquetball career, his presence has already been felt on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT). Knoth’s amateur appearances at IRT events during the past year have slotted him as the 37th best player in the world. On the sport’s grandest stage at the 2010 US OPEN Racquetball Championships, the 19-year-old reached the Round of 32 where he took fellow HEAD Penn teammate Ben Croft (Ranked 3rd on the IRT) to a fifth game before falling.
