USTA Eastern Partners with ESMZone.com
White Plains, NY — USTA Eastern’s 24th Annual College Showcase Day on Nov. 7, 2010 will feature a new interactive website that promotes community service and character development among young athletes: ESMZone.com.
The site, which is run by Education Sports Mentoring LLC, is an affinity-based community where student athletes compete for points and prizes by sharing the challenges they face in life and discussing solutions. The site was founded this year by former Microsoft executive Andy Moss and is a sponsor of this year’s showcase, which will be held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens.
Michelle Blake Wilson, Managing Director of Marketing and Communications, said ESMZone is a natural partner for the event, which is designed to reach the thousands of students who are not recruited by the top college tennis teams, but want to play tennis after graduation.
The event allows students to play in front of college coaches, learn about the college recruiting process, and watch some of the top college players in the country compete at the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships.
“We are excited that ESMZone.com will be at this year’s showcase,” said Blake Wilson. “Their online experience will provide valuable encouragement to our junior players to give back to their communities and develop critical leadership skills.”
Moss, CEO of Education Sports Mentoring LLC, said the site can help junior tennis players navigate the unique challenges of sports, school and friends.
“Student tennis players all over the country face some of the same issues: trying to balance the academic and social pressures with the desire to win,” said Moss. “Our site is a place for them to share their experiences and develop the tools they need to succeed in life.”
Coaches and high school students interested in attending the showcase can register at eastern.usta.com
