New Tennis Director Named at Caneel Bay

St. John, U.S.V.I. — Caneel Bay, A Rosewood Resort on St. John U.S.V.I. announces the promotion of Donald Becker to Tennis Director of the property’s 11-court, Peter Burwash International (PBI) Tennis Center. Becker previously held the number two position of the well-known tennis program at Caneel Bay, which has been under the direction of PBI for over thirty years. Caneel Bay’s Tennis Center is consistently ranked as one of best in the world and most recently, was rated the #1 resort for tennis in the Caribbean in 2010 by Tennis Resorts Online.

Becker oversees a variety of exciting instructional programs and tennis activities at Caneel Bay, including private lessons, daily clinics, round robins and other social and competitive events. The resort also offers a full-service pro shop and guaranteed player matching for all levels.

Since joining Peter Burwash International, Becker has previously traveled to Reynolds Plantation for training, as well as to Naples Grande Beach Resort, Four Seasons Great Exuma, Bahamas, Four Seasons Resort Nevis, and most recently Turtle Bay Resort, Hawaii.

Becker has achieved the highest level of certification from both the U.S. Professional Tennis Association and the Professional Tennis Registry, and is a graduate of USA Tennis High Performance Coaching Program and a former U.S. Tennis Association Competition Training Center coach. His tennis background includes playing for Allegheny College and coaching the Division 1 Men’s and Women’s teams at Niagara University. He also spent eight years as a tennis pro at the Village Glen Tennis & Fitness Club in Williamsville, New York.
