“The Attacking Game” TV Premiere
“On Court with USPTA” is the cable TV show produced by the United States Professional Tennis Association. In this episode USPTA Professional 1 Otis Sadler examines players taking control of matches and putting their opponents in pressure situations, making the opponent come up with a winning shot. He first addresses the control one has when serving and then looks at the serve and volley.
Next he looks at attacking from the returner’s point of view. First, he discusses chipping and charging on the second serve and then he looks at the big return, while demonstrating the importance of targeting and moving up into the court in order to be in position to attack the return.
In today’s game of huge forehands and even bigger serves, Sadler demonstrates how serving and volleying and chipping and charging might be just what a player needs to take his game to another level.
Sadler is a USTA Junior National Coach, USTA Master Clinician, and is certified as a USPTA Professional 1. He was the former program director of the Zina Garrison Tennis Academy and is currently the Junior Development Director at Houston Racquet Club.
“On Court” is a half-hour instructional show featuring USPTA-certified professionals as guest instructors. The USPTA became the first tennis-teaching organization ever to produce and air an educational television series on playing and teaching tennis on the Tennis Channel in 2003. Since then, more than 59 shows have been produced that provide instruction about technique, strategy and other facets of the game, such as fun and fitness. All production is done in-house, which includes everything from planning and scripting to shooting and editing to graphics and DVD duplication. All episodes of “On Court” are now in high-definition.
