USPTA Competitive Player Development Conference to Take Place in Fla.
The United States Professional Tennis Association Competitive Player Development Conference will take place in Naples, Fla., from Dec. 10-12. For the second year, the conference will be held at the Academia Sanchez-Casal, so that attendees get the added benefit of learning about some of the progressive coaching systems that have propelled Spain to its current tennis prominence and helped develop players like Svetlana Kuznetzova, Andy Murray, Juan Monaco, Daniela Hantuchova and Grigor Dimitrov.
Emilio Sanchez Vicario and Luis Mediero will be featured speakers. Sanchez Vicario is the former captain of the 2008 championship Davis Cup team for Spain and a former tour player ranked No. 7 in singles and No. 1 in doubles. He was also captain of Spain’s Olympic gold medal team in 2008. The Sanchez family is also well known for Emilio’s sister, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, who won four Grand Slam singles titles, six Grand Slam women’s doubles titles, and four Grand Slam mixed doubles titles.
Luis Mediero is a USPTA Master Professional and the founder of Registro Profesional de Tenis (RPT) in Madrid, Spain. Mediero has a lifetime of coaching experience that he has shared through courses, clinics and conferences in 80 countries, and he will provide invaluable insights to attendees.
“This has been one of the most popular and well-attended education programs that the USPTA has ever held,” said USPTA CEO Tim Heckler. “It enables tennis teachers to become familiar with the playing systems that are dominating most parts of the world.”
Early registration for the conference is $250 for USPTA members and includes all materials. The deadline for early registration is November 15. The conference will be presented in English. More information about the conference, including a detailed agenda and hotel accommodations, is available online at uspta.com, by e-mailing florida@sanchez-casal.com or by calling 239-261-5777.
